I have a background in Theatre and applied theatre practice, firstly in Australia and then in Scotland. I qualified and registered as a Dramatherapist in 2010 and have since worked across the NHS, in the third sector and in private practice, predominantly with adults experiencing difficulties in relation to their mental health.
In the last ten years I have established specialist dramatherapy services in diverse clinical settings and with a broad range of client populations. These include the development of a perinatal therapy service in an Edinburgh community setting, where I became interested in offering creative group work for new mothers and their babies. Most of my work however has been focused in NHS high secure forensic services. Having established the first forensic dramatherapy service in Scotland, I have worked alongside arts therapies colleagues for the last nine years, focusing on collaborative group work and the role of active and playful processes in the male patients’ therapeutic pathway.
This work sat alongside a role in an NHS adult psychotherapy service, working with colleagues offering a verbal approach to therapy practice.
I co-led the HCPC validation process for the new MSc Dramatherapy, and am establishing the programme alongside ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ dramatherapy and arts therapies colleagues.
I currently work in private practice as a Dramatherapist and Clinical Supervisor, which includes offering group supervision, reflective practice and Consultancy services within several third sector organisations across Scotland.
