Atholl Crescent

This is Atholl Crescent, where our institution was based from 1891 until 1970.

At the time of the move to the Clermiston campus, the ‘Head Student’ of the time spoke of Atholl Crescent as ‘the dear old rabbit warren’.*

It was indeed like a rabbit warren, bringing together multiple townhouses as one institution. Today, Atholl Crescent is largely taken up by the offices of legal firms.

*As reported in Tom Begg’s history of our institution, The Excellent Women, pp 30.
